Alright, so I’m just a tiny bit late getting this started, buuuut we’re only a month into the year. There is still plenty of time to do a 2020 reading challenge. It’s not going to be too extensive and I’m hoping to make it a little different than the other ones out there, but still fun.

I’m always looking for new reads and have been reading a crazy amount lately. I get most of my reading done before bed, so I end up reading on my phone or on my Kindle. I love physical books, but lately, it just hasn’t made sense. My boyfriend goes to sleep early so I can’t really turn the light on (unless I want to be a jerk). I suppose I could get a book light, but Overdrive is just so convenient.

Besides, I’ve never understood why people get so uptight about the whole ebook VS physical book debate. Why does it matter so much? Stop being so judgemental… you aren’t better than everyone else just because you read a tangible book. *shrugs* Sorry to burst your bubble.

Anywho, I set my Goodreads reading goal at 75 books for 2020! Don’t worry, that doesn’t mean this 2020 reading challenge is going to have 75 books. I chose 75 because I’m feeling ambitious and am trying to push myself. I might not hit 75 this year even at the rate I’ve been reading, but it’s a good goal I think.

Just a couple of recommendations for this 2020 reading challenge:

  • Try to get out of your comfort zone and read different genres or authors than what you’d normally read.
  • Don’t check off multiple categories with one book. For example, if the classic you choose to read is longer than 500 pages, only check off 1.
  • Enjoy it. If you need to alter the challenge, then go ahead. For example, if you can’t stand YA books, change the genre to horror, fantasy, or something else you like.
  • Don’t beat yourself up if you don’t get to all of them. Following this 2020 reading challenge means you will have finished 20 books by the end of the year. If you can’t make it happen, don’t worry about it.
  • Join a reading community. I’m a part of a couple of Facebook groups that I’ve gotten a few awesome recommendations from. I actually came across my favorite series of 2019 in one of those groups. You can also follow people on Goodreads too. (Here’s my profile if you need a friend.)
