Being an introvert can be pretty tough at times. You have to deal with the common misconceptions that most people have about introverts (we’re rude, shy, anti-social, etc.) which can get kind of frustrating. Our friends who don’t really understand us can get upset when we don’t want to go out. Honestly, we can be extroverted, but we need our alone time in order to recharge our batteries. It can definitely get a little tough living as an introvert in an extroverted world. It can be even tougher for introverted entrepreneurs but finding your tribe can help out.
Why is it tougher to be an introverted entrepreneur?
Google’s definition of an entrepreneur: a person who organizes and operates a business or businesses, taking on greater than normal financial risks in order to do so.
It seems like a pretty simple concept, right? So, what are some things that you think an entrepreneur would have to do to make their business(es) successful? Marketing, making phone calls, meeting with clients, and attending events to make connections are just a few things that come to mind. It might seem pretty simple, but for a lot of introverts, these tasks can sometimes be difficult. They’d probably rather have most communication be online, but that’s not completely possible for successful businesses. They have to get out of their comfort zone at least for their businesses.
Another reason why it might be more difficult for introverted entrepreneurs is that they don’t have many people who understand them. For me, this is particularly true. First of all, not all introverts are the same, just like not all extroverts are the same. Even when introverts have introverted friends, it still may be difficult to find people who understand you that are supportive of what you’re doing. You have to find your tribe.
Introverted Entrepreneurs Tribe
You may have read one of my earlier posts about finding your tribe to jump-start your success. I really believe that if you are surrounded by the right people, you will be able to find your success a lot more easily than if you don’t have like-minded people around you. I’ve had a lot of success in meeting like-minded people through different groups on Facebook and reaching out through blogs. Finding these people have helped to keep me motivated and driven towards my goals. So, I decided to create my own group for introverted entrepreneurs.
The name is pretty self-explanatory, I think. Basically, it is a Facebook group intended for introverted entrepreneurs in all fields to connect and meet like-minded people. This group will provide support and encouragement, as well as give our introverted entrepreneurs an opportunity to market their businesses. Used in the right way, this group will hopefully build and strengthen connections in the introverted entrepreneur community. We have a zero-tolerance policy on negativity. All members should encourage other group members and support one another. Basically, if you don’t have anything nice to say, then don’t say it at all.
This group is pretty brand new, so another plus is that you introverted entrepreneurs who join get to help make it what you want. There will be different tips and tricks for making yourselves successful as introverted entrepreneurs. We will also include any pieces of training that we think might be relevant. It’s all about support and I encourage you all to join!
